These elegant, 7-room bungalows line South Main Street and serve as the southern gateway to the Mill Village and to Mooresville. The expansive front porch spans the entire facade of the house. A two-window dormer adds an attractive touch to the front while providing lots of light to the upstairs mansard.

6 room house with dormers sketchLike the Spruce Street 6-room houses, these houses provide a large amount of square footage (approximately 1450 square feet). The dormers have and low, wide, integrated porch roof show the influence of the bungalow style which had become the trend at that time. These size and standing of these houses demonstrate that the mill owners were concerned with image, and that preoccupation extended to the housing they provided. Clearly, the mill owners wanted the houses facing Main Street to be a showcase of the prosperity of the mill and the good life they provided for their workers.
